FAQ

I’m confused, how can there be 10 workshops but 12 instructors?

Glad you asked! The goal of The Playground has always been to cram as many different teaching artists into the tightest possible time-frame so that you can sample from the widest array of disciplines. With that in mind we have sliced most of the workshops in half with two different teachers teaching two different but complimentary topics. Lucky!

How many spots are available in each workshop?

There are 12 spots available in each workshop.

If I sign up for one workshop then decide I want to join all of them, can I upgrade?

Yes. Just contact us, and provided the workshops aren’t full, we will make it happen.

Is there a discount for signing up for more classes?

Yes! A significant one. Scroll down to the bottom of the home page for a list of prices and discounts. There’s even an early-bird special which expires on September 15th.

Do the classes accept walk-ins, or do I need to register in advance?

Yes, you can walk-in, as long as the workshops are not full. It will be safer, and more economical to register in advance.

What if I’ve never done anything like this before, am I going to be in over my head?

No. There is no experience necessary, no so-called “talent” prerequisites and you don’t even have to identify as an artist to join us. If you’ve never done anything like this before we are thrilled to be your first foray. And lucky you, you’ll have the unique opportunity to try your hand at so many disciplines taught by so many different teachers over such a short period of time, you’ll get a real feel for what speaks to you.

What if I’m already an expert at improv and writing, am I going to be bored?

Heck no! We are meeting you where you are. Plus, you may have written before, but you’ve never written THIS.

What if I want to take workshops, but I’m not sure about doing those shows?

You will always have the right to pass. Whether it’s an exercise in an individual workshop or the show at the end. Consider it an invitation.

Is there parking?

Yes. On the street in front of the venue.
